“…the scribes and the Pharisees began to OPPOSE HIM VEHEMENTLY, and to provoke Him to speak many things: LAYING WAIT FOR HIM, and SEEKING TO CATCH something out of His mouth, THAT THEY MIGHT ACCUSE HIM.” Luke 11:53-54
LORD, You, the perfect Son of God, had men who opposed You, laying in wait seeking to find something to accuse You of.
What did You do?
“…in the meantime…He began to say…” You continued on as You had before.
And Father, You have commanded me to “REJOICE and BE EXCEEDING GLAD
(for great is your reward in heaven)” when men do the same to me. (Matt 5:12)
Practical Application:
Make a card of verses to review each time I begin to worry about the present persecution.

“And they began to accuse Him saying, we found this fellow perverting the nation and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar...” Luke 23:2
#1– They distorted the truth #1 and lied #2. You didn’t pervert the nation, however Your teaching did go contrary to the religious norm.
You gave the truth to reveal that THEY were perverted.
#2– Never did You forbid anyone to pay tribute – in fact You said, “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.” This was a flat out lie.
And Lord You said…
“…all who live godly SHALL SUFFER PERSECUTION…” 2 Tim 3:12
“…for unto you it is given to suffer for His sake…” Phil 1:29
” If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.” John 15:18
And, it has come to pass-
#1– the truth has been distorted
#2– lies have been told about me
and what have You said for me to do?
BLESSED ARE YE…
REJOICE…
BE EXCEEDINGLY GLAD…
Dear Father, LORD, thank You that You have counted me worthy of suffering for Your sake. Cause me to take You at Your word that there is blessing in them and my reward will be great in heaven. And help me, Father, to truly REJOICE and be EXCEEDINGLY GLAD today with each thought of this situation.
